Welcome to CachyOS Forum! šŸ‘‹

Installed Cachy on my main desktop PC, it has been a great experience so far.
I have learned and used windows since I was little, from gaming to programming and never had issues with it (if some slight ones).

I started having more problems with the recent windows 11, I kid you not I had to reinstall it FIVE times because of stupid updates/driver issues that would mess up my system. And just recently my windows key stopped working for no reason and windows support was no help.

I have been tinkering with linux distros for the past 2 years but never settles with one… Cachy has always been not only my top most recommened but one I always wanted to try.

So one day I just decided to install it and had no regrets! It works amazingly well and almost all games I ran had very few adjustments to be made.

Even apps that I needed for programming have been a blast with some few issues here and there!

Overall a great distro that I will keep my eye on

Hello. I’m SoarSpeed.

I’m new to this forum not too long ago. I’ve installed CachyOS and daily drove it for days on end after hopping from Mint.

Hi!

been distro hopping recently and decided to stay with you, I’m planning to learn how to configure sway and test different possibilities.

I wanted to put a picture, but I’m not sure how to do it… Seems there’s no option to upload an image… any tip?

GLHF!

Hello,

Been building computers since the early ā€˜90s and messing with Linux on and off over the years. Distro hopping and such. Even did the arch from scratch route once and only once. Now running CachyOS on main rig (multi-boot with shudder Win11 for now), playing with a few other distros on older ā€œobsoleteā€ (according to M$) computers (two laptops and a desktop). trying to find a good one for my 80+ year old mother to replace her, soon to be obsolete, Alienware M18x laptop (she liked the RGB, LOL).

See you in the threads.

Hello! I am brand new to Linux. After sampling a few distributions, I decided to install CachyOS and see how far I can run with it.

I installed it on my old 2011 MacBook Pro that had been sitting on my shelf unused for seveal years. I selected the LXQt desktop. I am really impressed with how fast everything is.

At the moment, the wifi and sound is not working. Nor do the brightness buttons. Perhaps I will figure out how to solve these issues. But being brand new to Linux, I barely know what I am doing, so maybe I won’t figure it out. But hopefully I will. At least I can plug in the ethernet cable to get online. The sound and brightness I don’t have a work-around.

Hello CachyOS community,
I have over 10 years of experience with Debian and Ubuntu. I wanted to try something new, so I installed CachyOS on my Lenovo ThinkPad two weeks ago. I’ve become a real fan.
To the development team: keep up the great work—you’re doing a fantastic job.
Cheers

Hello CachyOS Community!

I have just installed CachyOS, and I am very impressed. I had the openSUSE installed on a partition of my HDD, and as it had a bug after an upgrade I decided to replace it with CachyOS on this partition. And it was the best thing I could do.

The system is fast, and has a great performance on my laptop.

As an Arch Linux user, my feeling is that I have just found my distro.

Peter Jung and his team have been doing an awesome job. Congratulations!

See ya in the threads.

Hi Cachy community, here am I

Been a while away from Linux, specifically for the last 13 years that I spent as an MSFTE on the other side of the Window.

Not completly new to Linux since I have been studying Informatik at the Uni Dortmund way back in 1996 for a time.

Coming from CPM, C64 Basic and 68000 assembler, I took my fair share in IBMs OS2/Warp and SuSE Linux in yet another version (4-7) way before they split up in OpenSuse and SLES.

Programming wise I have a background in classic DB2 tools like clipper before moving on to more scripting then programing.

Last year I bought a Raspberry Pi with one of my 4 kids and this got me back into Linux.

Professionally I am currently taking some time off from big tech so I use my time to get back into the OSS game.

Speaking of games, BF6 is the only reason that there is a Windows installation left on one of my drives but it is already 3 weeks since I last booted into it.

Damn it is really fun and I am enjoying cachy a lot as other distros that I us on my laptop as well.

Cheers

Hi to all Cachy members,

since more than 40 years with MS products I switched to Cachy in january this year. A tricky start with dualboot (Win11), but I managed it over the time. Most of my programms and special games are working fine and I can do my normal stuff less or more like before.

The only thing I have trouble with since the beginning is the 2,5 GBit connection to my NAS. After more then 40hrs troubleshooting with KI in the terminal there seems to be no chance to get cachy running fine like I wish. :frowning:
After such a long time with DOS / OS2 / Windows until eleven I have a lot problems to learn the basics like mounting drives and using the file system. But Iįøæ not to old to learn this also over the time.

Now I will start a post with my LAN problems (smb) to get my home network running fine.

Thanks for reading, keep safe and well, with kindly regards

Tobi :waving_hand:

I really enjoy CachyOS every day

im looking for a real option to windows. i tried years…decades ago to change to linux but yeah, im a gamer and there wasnt the right time for it. but now im really full of hope that cachyos will give me this option. Already tried to build a kernel with the manager but..hmm my favorite games wont run playable.
I have some machines. never selled any that i bought myself so it looks like in a bit-museum in my office-room
My gaming machine in this moment and i want to let work is a amd 5950x powered one with a gforce 3060ti, 32gb/3200 ram on a cheap asus b550a-m board….
hope we can learn from each other and have some fun maybe. so cheers! :clinking_beer_mugs:

Tks for the links and sure, english is fine. Just seen one or two posts above mine in german.

Welcome. Make yourselves at home. This is your next OS for a while. :hugs:

Didnt know the potential of the OS since i installed it, at the first date i achieved the resurection of my lapto keyboard playing with the terminal and the autoconfig, a thing i could never achieve on native OS windows of the laptop, the laptops with AMD apu literally flies in this OS.

Yeah, that’s true. I really enjoy using CachyOS.

Good mourning to all- and welcome new users.

Hi folks,

just installed cachyos on my desktop. After ages with the ā€œsameā€ distros (redhat, mandrake, mandriva, debian , ubuntu, mxlinux) i tried cachy, first time on arch based so is all new for me. Well i’m really impressed, system is fast, really fast, after installation basically works all, really really easy . I’m happy, really fresh air on my pc.
