Shelly as default package management interface

What exactly do you think the Q in LGBTQ stands for?

star-trek-q

So. You deployed a free linux distro in a corporate environment that doesn’t have a support contract and have the audacity to actually fucking complain about what happens with it?

The sheer entitlement is goddamned staggering.

If it must be said again then; Shelly is not required to use Cachy.

In fact some of use continue to recommend only the use of pacman and paru.

( And octopi if a GUI is needed because it is a pacman wrapper. )

Oh and on the subject of “Queer”..

It is one of those words that was successfully reclaimed from bigots.

It might be used in some derogatory sense by some individual - and by that measure so is ‘gay’ - but on the whole it is not seen as an inherently offensive term. It might actually be the most inclusive catch-all for folks who are not 100% traditional straight-cis.

Hmmm being careful not to misread this…

CachyOS is in Devours

Is that a location for a party or a Gay club?

I will now be partying

  • Oh, ok - maybe both…

Anyway, you’re not worth chasing and are extremely welcome to leave at any time. I do believe the door is open.

Demanding removal of an opt-in, hidden-by-default message hidden behind a Pride button because its presence makes you uncomfortable isn’t a request for ‘neutrality.’

It’s a request for exclusion, perhaps you would prefer anyone identified as LGBTQ+ should be completely masked or erased… as many already do not openly identify due to FEAR of hostility, rejection or violence, for discrimination, due to regional criminalizations and death penalties, due to extreme religions, internal stigma - the simple shame of it!!!

Oh, well there are a couple who simply don’t believe it’s relevant - which is also fine.

The whole point of making a button visible is to signal to closeted, anonymous/hidden users that they are seen, they are welcome.

The community will continue welcoming everyone, including the LGBTQ+ users this button is meant to acknowledge.

There’s nothing else to discuss on this off-topic subject - it should be kept to having Shelly as default package management interface.

Guys. Threads like this are the reason for rule #4. I suggest we close this thread now because it completely derailed from the topic.

@7Daze if you don’t like shelly, uninstall it. End of story.

I’ll flag this for moderation.
