Why is there now three packages for Proton CachyOS? proton-cachyos and proton-cachyos-native seems to be roughly the same packages as well with slight differences.
I tried to understand the Wiki page, which says

Am I correct in thinking that I could safely uninstall proton-cachyos-native after that? With it being preferred over *-native in the Wiki ?
tbh, from my POV, it would be better to stick to 1 variant only (for saving space), like me for example mainly play steam games, i just use -slr ones, even i used the -slr ones in lutris sometimes, have no issue as well
i think -native would be like -slr (minus not using steam runtime perhaps ? and instead using system wide, tbh idk)
If I recall, some anti-cheat has issues with native and SLR is better behaved there. Between the two I can’t think of a reason to favor native at any point though I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some obscure case out there.
The only time you’d want different versions are for some games not liking 11, but that is a different matter entirely.

The current -Syu wants to replace proton-cachyos twice: once with proton-cachyos-slr and then also with proton-cachyos-native, which is exactly my confusion.
PS: I guess the Wiki-page on Gaming would need to be updated accordingly, too, when there actually is no more proton-cachyos.
Well of course that command was intended for after the transaction that I assumed was completed.

So I guess I’ll grudgingly do pacman -Rns proton-cachyos-native, but I find that behavior a bit odd, tbh. Why recommend *-slr on the Wiki, but install both when replacing proton-cachyos? For completeness’ sake? I’d rather save those MB 
For the most part the devs may compose a PKGBUILD a certain way so that a resulting package has certain qualities or dependencies but not something like it sounds you are describing.
I am pretty sure no one anywhere decided “let them have multiple protons on purpose, while leaving at least one of them an orphan - this is surely the correct thing to deliver”.
Instead I think it just has to do with how the dependencies are being met.
Though I could not tell you exactly why both (seem to) need to replace it.
It may have something to do with the double “Provides” - with one technically providing “proton-cachyos” and the other “proton” .. until the exchange is finalized and with the totality of things finally recognizing that deps are met with just one. Which still seems like a bug of some kind.

I got scared, backed out and did pacman -R proton-cachyos-native instead, which left me with all of these packages as orphans.
So I uninstalled them and all looks fine now, but I really think this is a weird behavior on Cachy’s part.
I mean if we simplify it back its just the one double-package thing, which ..
Now that I look at it again … this does appear like you could have responded n to one of these?
Could’ve, should’ve. Never forget: I am still a total newbie, hoping that Cachy cares for me 
I realize that I should probably have said NO to the first and YES to the second, but as there was no announcement on that, I felt kinda lost… and I bet I’m not alone in this 
According to
proton-cachyos does not exist anymore and has been replaced by -native. They pretty much renamed it
Additionally, proton-cachyos has been renamed to proton-cachyos-native.
