I noticed that packages in core-znver4 and extra-znver4 come with the x.1 build number and x86_64_v4 architect. Does that mean the core and extra repos are finally build in v4 architect and not the v2 rebuilds as in core-v4 and extra-v4?
the .1 decimal increase is basically just so that when user, or calamares adds the repository, it will automatically upgrade these packages.
We have made together with the Zen4 Repoitory some testing, with automatically overwritten the CARCH and it worked fine. Thats the reason why you see at the end the âx86_64_v4â.
The cachyos-extra-v4 repository, is already build with x86-64-v4, but we did not wanted to change the CARCH behaviour in prod, so the Zen4 repository was the perfect testing for.
I get a lot of signatur errors.
Fehler: Der Vorgang konnte nicht durchgefßhrt werden (Ungßltiges oder beschädigtes Paket)

Not sure it is still fine?
sudo rm -f /var/cache/pacman/pkg/*
Please try that
I think maybe I messed with âpacman.confâ or I forgot something because after redoing the steps now it works fine.
I noticed that now moving windows are smooth, perfect before it was stuttering.
Okay, the stutter is back. While moving a running YouTube Video-Window for example it feels laggy. I think that was better on the older KDE Plasma 6.05 maybe a 6.1 bug?
Its likely that its a KDE issue.
Please try:
Disable VRR
or
If VRR is set to full, set it to automatic
Update your system. Ive included some patches, which might help fixing this issue.
I have just installed this znver4 kernel. I am running a 7950x3D. Thank you!
So far, it seems good.
Is there any kind of specific tests you would like me to do?
You also need to reinstall all packages, as mentioned in the above blogpost.
Its not only the kernel, which is compiled with the Zen4 Optimization - its the complete arch repository also rebuild against it.
Generally, we are looking that there is no regression, bugs or equal. So far the testing goes it is looking very good, and will be included in the upcoming release.
Awesome, will keep an eye out for any issues.
Yes all packages installed, followed your tutorial at the top. Though I should mention, I saw some âdowngradingâ on some packages when they were all reinstalling/upgrading.
It feels a lot snappier but I think its placebo.
I have been on znver4 repos for like 10 days, it works flawlessly for me. Good job done, Cachy Team!
BTW, I wonder why cachy-browser is removed from v3, v4 and znver4 repos. Is it a build failure? Anyway, it would be great to see a optimized cachy-browser package back soon.
cachy-browser got from them removed, because there is a LLVM Bug as soon avx or higher instructions gets used it will fail.
This is a LLVM bug and is hopefully fixed in LLVM 18
Hi
I too wanted to report that after a few days havenât seen any instability either⌠(my only activities have been gaming/web browsingâŚ)
Iâm really grateful that you have done this for Zen 4 users! Also Iâm happy that I decided to finally go and give a try to CachyOS!
Thank you!
Very glad to hear. Ive also tested it on my machine and our servers for around 20 days. No issues found so far.
Ready to get rolled out to the public Thanks for testing it!
Hello,
I just realized that the game Hunt Showdown not start with proton-cachyos(native package) anymore. I donât get any error message but the Proton Experimental does work. Should I better avoid proton-cachyos in general for online gaming? I mean can this lead to an game ban?
Otherwise my System runs fine with that ZEN4 optimization.
Hi! I wanted to report that Iâve completed this on a fresh install of Cachy. No issues that I can see. Thank you, Peter!
No, imo if a game works with proton-cachyos, itâs better to use it as it includes more optimizations/patches. Use other versions just for the games that donât work.
That said, as long as your games are working great, it doesnât really matter what version you are using.
I like to stay with proton-cachyos as this is where the latest optimizations and updates are arriving first (and just use experimental for the newer games that only work with it).
Some of my games run smoother with proton-cachyos than with the other versions (and for some other games there is no difference).
Thankâs for letting me know, I appreciate that.
After I did the ZEN4 Optimizations my Hunt Showdown and Remnant: From the Ashes not want to start via proton-cachyos.
Not sure if it is do to an proton-cachyos update or if it is because ZEN4 Optimizations but Proton Experimental are working fine for both games.
Thanks, could you provide a log with âPROTON_LOG=1 %command%â in steam?
It could be that lib32 does not like avx512 much, reason we also did not had it in the cachyos-v4 repository.
For verification:
Can you try to do following, sudo pacman -S cachyos/proton-cachyos and check if the game works?
I got the log file and âsudo pacman -S cachyos/proton-cachyosâ fixed the problem.
Noob question how can I provide a â.logâ file ?
It says: âSorry, the file you are trying to upload is not authorized (authorized extensions: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, heic, heif, webp, avif).â
Okay I just uploaded that via Google Drive
Another question it says "This version of Proton is meant to be used with âsteam-nativeâ I use Steam-Runtime do you recommand the nativ one over the runtime one?
