Windows grabbing focus but not popping up to front

Hello!

I just had a quality of life question regarding the window behavior of apps in CachyOS KDE. When I double-click a file to open it from the file manager Dolphin (or click on a hyperlink in a file), if the related app is not currently open, the app pops up on top of Dolphin and grabs focus. However, when the app is already open and I open a file or click on a hyperlink, the app in question does not pop up to front, though the taskbar panel icon flashes orange, signifying that something has happened with it. I have to then manually select the application to focus on the file I just opened.

Is there any way of changing the window behavior such that the app windows will always grab focus and pop to the front?

Many thanks in advance!

I am struggling with that behavior, too. But it seems it is just the way KDE behaves…

Have you tried setting the Focus Stealing Prevention to “None”?

In the Window Behavior settings menu:

This works for me.
