Volume buttons dosen't work

Hi there is on the left side of my laptop buttons that control the volume and the F6 and F7 on the keyboard and for some reason none of them works any help

My laptop is HP EliteBook 810 revolve g3

Needs more information, what is your environment? give us a cachyos-bugreport

Sometimes, you need to press the Fn-key together with those F-keys. Or you may set in the BIOS/UEFI that Fn-Lock is always on/off.

i have to press fn with all of them but the volume buttons are the only thing that dosen’t work

in windows to make it work i needed hp hotkey uwp driver to make it work that is only on windows

i don’t know what you mean by environment i think you mean kdm plasma

in windows i needed hp hotkey uwp driver to make it work but here on cachyos

i can’t

do a cachyos-bugreport and send us the result it’ll give us more in-depth info about your setup

well, if it requires special drivers and those aren’t available on linux then you might be screwed.

You can try doing something like sudo showkey --scancodes in terminal then pressing the buttons to see if there’s a response.

If there is, try again with wev and see if it tells you how exactly it’s reading the keys, if there’s not you need a driver that’s not available for those keys to work and there’s nothing you can do unless you plan to make that driver yourself.

hey it does response

when i use sudo showkey --scancodes

Ok that means the keys are working, they are just not being mapped to volume up and down.

One thing you could try is just going to the kde keybinds and try to remap the volume up and down functions to these keys that way.

But alternatively you can figure out how to remap the keys to be the volume up down keys properly, this is a bit more complicated.
