User Experience switching from Bazzite

Hi people,

I’m not entirely new to Linux, but far away from being a power user. More of a moderately experienced one, using Garuda as my daily driver on my Desktop and currently using Bazzite on my Legion Go. I am contemplating switching from Bazzite to CachyOS, in part due to the possibility of getting some more flexibility about what packages to install thanks to OctoPi. I have also heard of performance improvements in GameMode and better 1% lows and frame pacing, so that’s something

However, because I often hook the Legion Go up to use as a Desktop Replacement, I am wondering about a few things that I have not found anything for in the forums and google so far.

  • Do Thunderbolt and DisplayLink docks work OOTB or will I need to perform some manual setup steps?
  • Are the screen Framerate intervals adjustable as they currently are on Bazzite? (30, 60, 72 and 144)
  • When replacing my install of Bazzite that’s currently residing on the internal SSD alongside Windows, will I still be able to install rEFInd? Currently I can only switch boot partitions from the UEFI menu.

Thanks for the work you’ve been putting in so far, everything I’ve seen is raving reviews.

Yes, they should work OOTB

For the handheld edition, we only provide systemd-boot as the available boot manager. This is by design to ensure easier maintainability. This may change in the future but with there currently being only 2 maintainers for the handheld edition, it’s not happening any time soon.
