USB stick detection issue

Hello !

Here is the situation : I have two laptops. One is a Lenovo Legion Y540 running Cachyos and the other one is a Framework Laptop 13 (AMD series) running vanilla Arch.

I have an USB stick (Kingston DataTraveler 16gb) and I wanted to make it an Arch installation medium. While I can do whatever I want on my Framework Laptop of this stick (put a partition table with partitions, copy the Arch iso on it), I have troubles on the Legion. everytime I plug it it does not recognize the partition table and the partitions of it, and when I try to mount a partition, the menu of KDE showing removable disks keeps appearing and disappearing. I also have another usb key, which works fine on both laptops.

I don’t even know if it is related to Cachy, Linux or hardware, but I am ready to provide any information that you ask for.

ever try ventoy?

Hey,

I know that Ventoy is facing some issues (see: Github issue) while still being interesting, I am not interested in it.

Moreover, even Ventoy cannot install itself on the stick. While trying with popsicle, I get an Input/output error (os error 5).

Weirdest thing is that the stick is working totally fine on my other laptop and when it has the arch iso on it, I can even make my cachyos laptop boot on it.

Anyway, after trying things and searching on the internet, it seems that the USB stick is near death. Closing.
