After installing, when I open Davinci, I just get the revolving icon by the cursor for a few seconds, then nothing. Davince won’t start. I’m running a Ryzen 7 5800X with a Geforce GTX 1070ti. previous version works just fine. Any ideas on a fix?
Its hard to figure out what it wrong without an actual error message or log. Try to launch it from the terminal and see if you get any output. Also check logs
This is my first time running Linus, and not sure where things are yet. But issue is resolved, waited a couple days and then there was an update pushed, and it worked after the update. Just still not sure why it didn’t work when I installed the new version directly. Then when version 21 came out, same thing. I installed it, and it would not start. No error messages, just a rotating small icon by my cursor for about 5 seconds, then nothing. So I reinstalled the previous version from within CachyOS, which works. Now today, version 21 now showed up as an upgrade, and I upgraded. Works just fine. So all is good. Just need to learn Linux, LOL. Would love to get away from Win11.
Does this mean you are manually upgrading some foreign software while sometimes using the repositories or ALPM packages at the same time?
No. I was downloading the new version directly from Davinci Resolve and installing, and it would not work. But when I installed the version from the repository, which was the previous version, it worked. I had uninstalled it before downloading the new version from their site and installed, would not work. It only worked if I used the repository version. But now the repository has the current version, which is what I upgraded to, now I’m a happy camper, works perfectly.
Anything not in the repositories is foreign.
It is generally recommended to stick to those official sources unless explicitly needed.
