New Linux user here.
Installing with the defaults with the most recent iso using a live usb works, but when booting into Cachyos, it hangs at a blank screen with a _
Previously installed a few days ago and it worked perfectly fine.
I also can’t open tty after editing the command line cause it also hangs
Could the issue be my USB drive? Or a recent package update breaking the installation?
Old related posts haven’t helped much either, I’m using a AMD laptop and AMD igpu

Same here… But I found why.
2-3 days ago there are no problems with the installation. But yesterday, probably an update and KDE only installation don’t work anymore because of Wayland.
If you install Gnome and KDE, at boot screen choose KDE X11 and it will work.
Also, when I log into Gnome, there are no software, and CachyOS Hello tools doesn’t work anymore for me since new installation from yesterday.

There was LLVM19 update two or three days ago. Outside of that, nothing noteworthy happened on CachyOS/Arch. Were there any custom packages that you’ve selected during install?
@Jack when booting, could you guys go to a different TTY and grab logs? Where does the boot exactly hang here? Before or after the boot manager?
If at install time you install only KDE, it hang when he try to open SDDM.
But if you install Gnome/GDM it work. I think there is a bug with Wayland.
And for CachyOS Hello Tools, Ex.: If you try to install Snappy Tools, the window popup for 1sec then close.

So we’re getting reports in our Discord too and after some eventual digging, it seems that this is an upstream polkit bug Failed at user spawning(archinstall) · Issue #543 · polkit-org/polkit · GitHub. Arch already has a fix, and it looks to be in the testing repos.
