Sudden issue mounting NTFS drive that was mounting properly

Honestly been having a pretty decent time on cachyos it has been mostly painless however I managed to get my mass storage drive to mount and have had very few problems with it until today where it seemed to suddenly start having issues mounting. Small note I am a dead beginner I have no experiences before now of trying Linux or running anything like this in the past I unfortunately need pretty basic level instruction in order to do the things I need to do to get it working.

Are you dual-booting with Windows?

If you are, have you disabled Fast Startup from within Windows and perform a proper shutdown before booting your Linux?

This has occurred to me multiple times with a windows 11 & a Cachyos dual boot setup. Pretty much 100% of the time, it has been caused by needing to hard reboot in Linux with the NTFS drive mounted. In my case, the fix is simple, boot into Windows and use the Windows CHKDSK utility which repairs it, I have never really looked for a Linux solution but believe one uses ntfsfix?

I’m not I have a Windows VM but I’m not dual booting

Have you heard of the magic REISUB keys? That should make hard reboots obsolete.

I know all about REISUB. In my scenario it is useless.
All my forced reboots have been cause by my system locking up, with the result being that I have no mouse and no keyboard input rendering REISUB useless because I can’t use it.

It’s an issue I have had for sometime, I can go weeks with no issue and then out of nowhere I get a complete lockup, worse than that, more often than not after the forced reboot I have to clear the cmos and reset the bios because the forced reboot kills my wi-fi and the only way to retrieve it is clearing the cmos. I have tried to track down the problem but it requires me trying a number of things like memory settings amongst others things. Because this thing can go weeks without it occurring, as you can imagine, trying and validating what it could or could not be is a bit of a nightmare so I just put up with it.
