Sleep mode issues

Hello,

I’ve noticed an issue with the sleep mode on CachyOS, where if the computer goes to sleep mode the screen won’t wake up until you force reboot the system. I don’t know if this is an issue on anyone elses system, but on my Asus TUF F15 it is a problem. I don’t really want to have the screen be on constantly, but having to force reboot my computer every time is not great either.

Thanks in advance for any help

I have the same issue although it is seemingly random. About 30% of the time the system will wake up as expected. Otherwise it requires powering down and back on. My Power Management settings are shown below.

ASUS Prime B450M-A
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.27.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Kernel Version: 7.0.12-1-cachyos (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31.1 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 570 Series

You could try some options from here: Power management/Suspend and hibernate - ArchWiki
Most notably these chapters:

  • 7.4 Blank/black screen after suspend/hibernate: With NVIDIA cards, the VRAM contents are saved to disk when suspending.[8] Make sure that you have enough disk space, otherwise you might get a blank screen when resuming. Another cause for this could be fixed by blacklisting the module nvidiafb. [9]
  • 7.6 PC will not wake from sleep on A520I and B550I motherboards: On some motherboards with A520i and B550i chipsets, the system will not completely enter the sleep state or come out of it. Symptoms include the system entering sleep and the monitor turning off while internal LEDs on the motherboard or the power LED stay on. Subsequently, the system will not come back from this state and require a hard power off.

Thanks for the link to information on the A520I and B550I motherboards. My motherboard is a B450 but I used your link to check for the GPP0 flag and find it is not present. My system is using revision 0x0a500014 AMD microcode. I will have to dig deeper.

I do note that my system has suspended to sleep several times today and I was able to wake it each time by a quick press of the flashing power button on the case. That doesn’t always work but this may be magic Monday.
