Returning from Gamescope to Plasma without needing password?

Hello,

I have set up SDDM to automatically go into gamescope, but if I do the “Return to Desktop” option from Steam, it boots me back into a login window. I manually need to select Plasma as my desktop, type my password, and login.

My question is, then, is it possible to have the user switch to Plasma directly without needing to do a password input and then also swap back to gamescope via reboot or other means? Because when I select Plasma on the login screen it “remembers” it and the next reboot you need to manually re-select gamescope.

have you found a solution for this?

nope, sorry
I switched my livingroom PC to BazziteOS as this was working out of the box there

funny, I am ditching Bazzite and am currently looking for an alternative. Bazzite is taking a bit too long to deliver the new kernels with the fixed security vulnerabilities, so I replaced it. It also had too much bloat for my taste. But Cachy doesn’t appear to be a solution either, at least not as a dedicated HTPC OS

I really don’t feel any bloat, our HTPC just does steam though nothing else so can’t speak to media playback “bloat” or whatever

the bloat for me are all the different launcher I don’t need, the feature to run Android apps and what not. My main use is also 90% Steam and 10% Heroic Games Launcher (I have a few EpicGamesStore and GOG games). Don’t need any media playback capabilities - just gaming. And given that app like Sunshine, Lutris, Heroic, Proton Fixes etc work just fine as flatpak, I don’t really see the need to have them part of the immutable OS image and thus lack the ability to update them independently.

I don’t mind the core OS to be immutable, but unless they require tight integration into the OS, apps should not be part of the OS image.
