RDSEED32 Alert post Linux 7.0 update

Hi,

It’s not a bug per-se, but am having a new alert on Cachyos since kernel 7.0 upgrade :

RDSEED32 is broken. Please update your firmware.

When I saw this message, I restored my snapshot to a 6.19, and had no alert. Prior to upgrading again, I checked my bios version (ASUS Deutschland) and I was in 319 (2025/05). So I upgraded to 322 (2025/12), and still have the issue. I believe the cpu micro-code fix should already be in 319, so I am not sure where this warning is coming from. My system boots, and I don’t see any issue, but me no like seeing warnings

Well, evidently it doesn’t, since the microcode revision is lower than the minimum required. Anyway, this warning is nothing new. For versions <7.0, we removed the warning entirely (see x86/CPU/AMD: Gatekeep Zen5 RDSEED "fix" behind !CONFIG_CACHY · CachyOS/linux@c745fa8 · GitHub). I didn’t include this hack in 7.0, but as you are familiar with, there are still users who have outdated firmware, and even worse, vendors that don’t include the minimum required microcode revision. So I kept the warning, but didn’t clear the CPUID bit so things don’t break. (see x86/cpu/amd: Don't clear RDSEED32 bit on znver5 · CachyOS/linux@0d31fb2 · GitHub)

That’s insane. My bad for trusting constructors. I am going to write to Asus maybe it might move things (even if I doubt profoundly).
