Proton Stutters

I am getting stuttering in games when using proton experimental. The stuttering isnt reported by mangohud but is there when I record my screen at 240fps with my phone. I get it in the finals (which can only be played on experimental) and in dirt 2.0, when I go to proton 7 for example all the stuttering goes away. When I use Show FPS (for Kwin) in window management settings I get an fps number representative of what I can see with my eyes.

I have had this issue persistent across 2 cachyOS installs and Ubuntu as well as Xorg and Wayland. Any ideas what it could be?

Overwrite files at

YOUR_PROTON/files/lib/wine/dxvk/ and YOUR_PROTON/files/lib64/wine/dxvk/

Thanks for the help, sadly no change.

It appears that the whole system locks up when it happens, but for some reason it only seems to happen with proton. I do notice that the mouse isnt fully smooth on the desktop but I have assumed that is because of the mismatch between the polling rate and frame rate.
