Printer help needed

Hi everyone,

I’m having issues getting my printer up and running and need a better eye than mine to look at this with me. I’m using a Brother HL-2300D connected via USB. I’ve gotten it to “print” a test page which ends up being a blank page. I’ve tested multiple options in the print settings and nothing is working. Any help on what to try next would be greatly appreciated.

Solved: not an easy one, had to use a driver set from AUR called brlaser v6 while i’m not really good at using AUR a few tutorials on YouTube helped me make and build the package.

Leaving this here in case it helps anyone in the future.

Did you install the driver from aur?
yay -S brlaser

lol, we must have been typing at the same time. Yeah, that’s what i eventually found. I’m not sure about using YAY i did it the hard way i guess. i need to learn how YAY works later but for now i have work to do to get back on schedule (bleh, i hate MUST DO lists).

Have a great day, and thanks for the reply.

Ya, I just installed CachyOS KDE Plasma like a few days ago and I had some trouble getting my Xerox B205 working.

It is weird in the System->Printers it hangs when I try to add a printer. But then I luckily found a work around, using a web interface to add prints with CUPS.

Use your browser:
URL: http://localhost:631/

Then just add the printer and was amazed it worked, strange way to add a printer, heh.

I would make sure that this package is installed also @mr.ficticious

To add to @alext s above.

system-config-printer

Hm, my Brother laser printerscanner is working with cups, cups-browsed and connecting via IPP alone, without a custom driver.
