We have reached Eternal September in Archland and it is driving me mad.
I am not a Unix Wizard but what little I do know has come from years of experience, making mistakes and learning from them. And from reading - The Rute book (out of date now, I’d recommend a couple of titles from No Starch Press instead today), UNIX Power Tools, man pages and for background, The Unix Philosophy by Gancarz (now updated to The Linux Philosophy), the Unix-Haters Handbook, and Howard Rheingold’s Tools For Thought. And even before starting to use Arch a few years ago, I’d consult the Arch Wiki.
I recently retired from my job as a senior nurse and it used to frustrate the hell out of me trying to educate patients and their relatives who got all their information from youtube and tiktok and forums and asking ai instead of listening to doctors and nurses because, you know, we don’t know anything.
I can’t deal any more with people who won’t listen, won’t admit they’re wrong, won’t read any appropriate documentation. I’ve already had posts flagged because I’ve been too blunt in some of my replies.
Just logging out is not enough because I’ll just come back so please remove my account or lock it or whatever.
There might even be a lesson in that. But no, better leave before questioning one’s own behavior, because sure, it’s your godgiven right to be to blunt. Sheesh.
They are saying they do not want to deal with all the entitled-yet-helpless newbies (along with a perspective that such a group may be permanent and permanently growing) and have opted to destroy the account in hopes that will dissuade them from idly re-engaging.

Oh this really resonates with me. I installed Cachy on one laptop purely out of curiosity having heard how fast it is and signed up for the forum, again purely out of curiosity. Now after a few days I’m reminded why I stay away from forums!!! I feel your pain and frustration. Probably wont be back after today either!
