for some reason the right channel is not responding after plugging in the headphones
does anyone know any ways to fix it or test it so i could know what the issue is?
Are the headphones connected via USB or jack? Do the headphones work as they should elsewhere?
the headphones uses jack, they work normally on other computers and the left works normally but only if you plug in the microphone and headphone jack
If you run alsamixer, does it say the right channel is muted?
I do not know the software side very well, so I am now thinking it could be the port on your computer either being broken or having dirt preventing proper connection for that channel. You can try cleaning it carefully and see if it helps.
Maybe someone else who knows more about the software has more ideas on what it could be.
Are you using front panel port? Have you tried the back port instead? Maybe something with front panel cable
This may be obvious, are you sure you are getting the jack all the way inserted?
I have had instances where some jacks were a little stiff and needed a little more force to get the plug all the way in.
