It would be great to see packages of release candidate SLD3 (and 32-bit): AUR (en) - sdl3
Compiling sdl3 on local machine is nasty because of ibus and fcitx5 dependencies.
I know it’s not the same and some might be against it but…

If you try it let us know.
I think adding the entire repo for one package is too much. Furthermore, they’re also shipping sdl3-git instead of just sdl3.
Anyway, if CachyOS maintainers are interested in adding sdl3
to the repos here are packages that worth considering adding as well:
lib32-sdl3
sdl2-compat-git
lib32-sdl2-compat-git
You just download the individual package and install it.
Both compat packages has conflict with sdl2 packages.
Is sdl3 and compat stable enough at this point to replace it?

Well yeah, that should be obvious.

Nobody says they should replace sdl2 in the repos, just make sdl3 and compats available alongside with sdl2.
Really obvious.
so that sdl2-compat can completely replace SDL2 at all points.
Still, it doesnt say anything about the packages, if follow the same patterns as 1.2 to 2.0, then sure.
But I agree on the suggestion to cachyos. +1
