Hey, I rather use something else anyway, yet I wanted to raise attention to the fact that the openbox install fails.
Notably, also Endeavour OS cannot install with its openbox script.
Best, J

Thank you. It appears “obconf” has been removed from the archlinux repository.
I have added it back to ours. It should work now
Thanks! I remember this file. It was mentioned in the error note of Endeavour OS if i am not mistaken. crazy

The issue is also in the current release, same error log trying to install openbox
I thing arch renamed it obconf-qt
Still dont work… Sad, but i have to go with another distro. T-T
obconf-qt is now in both the Arch and Cachy repos.
It worked now
Is openbox in cachy os supposed to be blank or preconfigured?
Here is blank, with black screen and nothing on It ![]()
Just downloaded Cachy and when greeted with choosing from the list of desktop envs my first thought was “wow so many options, surely they are all very well supported and I will definitely do the right choice” (spoiler: I did not make the right choice”)
After like 30 mins of googling I decided to go with OpenBox, because it looked the coolest and had anime girls on the images so surely would have toons of users and definitly not be a bugy mess…
Well Here I am… on a black screen without any toolbar/panel, with windows that look like windows 2000 era, and opening configurations throws this error.
I definitly made the right choice.
Google tells me this is an error already known since 2015 on some linux distros.
Do I need to reinstall the whole OS to choose another Desktop?
From the comments I’m wondering if they were presented with an empty screen like I did when I just installed 6.19.12-1-cachyos. The right mouse button has the main menu, which is why I love Openbox. Imo they should have configured the install to at least have a cachyos wallpaper or panel, not a black wt*.
What brought me here is I tried I tried dropping in my .config/openbox folder from another linux and edited the files to make it all work.
However my right click menu was only partially correct, and the submenu is cut short cutting most of the categories. Is there another config file causing this?
