Not booting to install

Hey Everyone,

I was trying to install Cachyos on my laptop but when i select Cachyos from the live usb boot menu it just goes to black screen and i even tried the Cachyos LTS and Cachyos nomodeset and they’re all the same how can i fix that.

Try disabling secure boot in BIOS

Secure boot is disabled and it didnt have any Os installed on the laptop

So just to be clear, you are not able to get into USB live environment? or did you get into Live, installed and now cannot boot?

Also, what is the hardware you are running?

i cant get to the live usb i didnt install it yet and also i am using an hp laptop inter i7 8th gen and and my Gpu is intel UHD 620

That laptop should boot into live USB without an issue. It may be that your USB drive is not working. Did you try burning the ISO to a different USB stick? I’ve had them go bad on me. Especially no-name-brand one you get for cheap.

What process did you use (OS, program) to create (burn) the bootable USB?

Also try another USB port. Some PCs are a bit picky on the port when booting from USB.

i used rufus

i dont think the port is any bad i installed many os via that port.

If I remember correctly, when creating a bootable USB drive in Rufus there is a choice to use MBR or GPT. If the USB drive is intended to be bootable on a system with secure boot turned off then I believe the USB drive needs to be created with the MBR option.
