I’m a newbie at cachyos (and Linux for that matter). After managing to install cachy on my Acer switch 5 (witch can be used as a tablet), I realised, that the virtual keyboard was absent. I’m not skilled enough to pin down where the problem is and I hope, that this forum can help me out.
Yes, I tried rebooting the PC and also tried the solutions that where mentioned in former posts. Not knowing, if I made a mistake, I’m open to do that again.
In case it is at all related I might mention that the maliit-keyboard package was recently deprecated and removed from the repos. It has been replaced by plasma-keyboard.
Yeah, i used KDE Plasma. Out of frustration I reinstalled cachyos with GNOME, which resolved the issue (and felt more suitable for a convertible laptop).
Just need to vent on this forum. New to Cachy and KDE but not linux in general. Tried many, many, solutions online to just get a basic onscreen keyboard on Cachy with KDE.
I’m have disabilities, and this has been a pain, both real and figurative.
And the general consensus for a working solution seems to be to remove the inferior KDE and install Gnome instead.
Why? After all this time. Why is changing DE still the only fix that works.
@CrustyCircuits If you want to use KDE Plasma, plasma-keyboard have been working well enough for me.
