On Windows i use the Nvidia Control Panel for changes but on CachyOS i can nothing set. How can i change Gaming setting with my Nvidia GPU? How use Gsync or set other Gaming Settings?
You don’t basically it is Linux that isn’t compared to Windows… Everything is optimized and used on Kernel and CachyOS os have game optimizing by default and game mode that does the job
Ok but how use Gsync with my Nvidia GPU?
You mean VRR that is Gsync and it is supported or bot depends on distro and DE
I dont have this Option and my Monitor is gsync compatible.
- In nvidia-settings go to the X Server Display Configuration page, then under the Advanced button is the option to Allow G-SYNC on monitor not validated as G-SYNC Compatible. Click apply.
- Now, under OpenGL settings, check Allow G-SYNC/G-SYNC Compatible
I have to say I am not so familiar for Gsync and gaming settings for Nvidia so my knowledge on this is limited I would let someone who has more knowledge to get more details on this
If you’re using a wayland-based desktop environment, nvidia’s official settings application generally doesn’t manage to show anything useful (or toggleable settings for that matter), as it is X server settings.
For wayland based desktop environments, VRR (aka, G-Sync or AMD free sync), are handled through their implementation of the wayland protocols.
As a result, you are able to see these settings for distributions like KDE in the display configuration settings. Gnome shell, to my knowledge, also has this support.
So, that’s generally the only answer you’ll be able to find out there. I’m assuming you’re using something wayland based. I’m not really sure what the current status is on X-based setups working with VRR, as X has been left in the dust…
If you could post some additional information about the desktop environment you’re using, and any additional settings you’re looking for, I may be able to offer you some pointers.
(And, as a heads up, KDE is currently the desktop environment with the best support for various graphical bells and whistles out there, including HDR, VRR/G-Sync/Explicit Sync frame timing, and other things generally on the frontier of what wayland protocols have been implemented in desktop environments. There are also generally fixes directly addressing KDE concerns in Nvidia’s driver patch notes and egl-wayland notes nearly every release, as they are actively trying to make things perfectly compatible.)
Variable refresh rate will show up in the KDE display configuration settings if you have it enabled on your display. (I turn it off myself, as I find it does more harm than good for most of the possible uses I have for it, vs. just relying on the other systems in place to handle frame rendering.)
Good luck
I use KDE.
Im not sure, what you expecting about “no nvidia settings”.
Linux does not have something like the windows nvidia-settings. On X11 the nvidia-settings panel has some options.
Anyways, to use Gsync, simply go into KDE System Settings → Display → Adaptive Sync and set it to Auto.
