No cursor shown in screenshare window in OBS

Cursor isn’t shown when using specific window screenshare.
OBS source properties has the show cursor enabled too.

My cachyos has kde plasma and niri,
I installed cachyos kde then niri noctalia from cachyos hello in kde session

maybe this conflicts anything
So i tried this,

Tried to pinpoint the issue more if it’s my specific install only.
Did fresh install with the kde then niri, still no cursor.

Also tried fresh install with cachyos niri only, still no cursor.

I’m new to linux, and have been doing fine in my small 5months of experience, with the help of troubleshooting with LLM,

As for this issue, i have searched around and found this on niri github,

I’m lost if this is cachyos or niri problem, i concluded from my fresh installs that this is maybe more in cachyos.

also the cachyos logs.

Have you tried the Flathub package of OBS Studio? Just to rule out if there are any issues with the CachyOS repository package

yeah i tried flatpak
i tried it on my main install, no cursor.

and just now tested on new install too, same no cursor here also.

Ah, all right.
I tried to check if I also don’t have cursor on the window capture, but it seems I can’t reproduce this issue on KDE.

I’m considering for right now that this is a Niri issue.

So i tried with external being monitor turned off, and position x,y 0 with scale 1 in niri config
still no cursor

to make a video on this, used gpu screen recorder
even that didn’t get the cursor if i choose specific window from the pick output in screenshare window.

at this point, i also think this is niri problem,

Is this reproducible for other people?
for cachyos niri noctalia.

So the PR on Github fixing this issue is merged on 11 jan 26 and the niri latest version available is 25.11 which was released in november 2025.
I checked the release notes for 25.11 and there wasn’t a mention of this being fixed.

Do mark solved, or wait for the release then test if it works for me.

I’m running niri + noctalia from a desktop-less install of cachyos, then set up niri and noctalia manually.

I had to install a bunch of extra things, like portals, auth agent, etc, I don’t even have a login manager, just doing niri-session when I boot into a tty. I assumed missing the cursor was due to something I have skipped in my set up.

It’s not a deal breaker, but would be nice if co-workers were able to see where I’m pointing when sharing my screen :D.

Let me know if you find a fix!

I have been using the git version, just for the cursor to be shown, so far found no problems with it.
Couldn’t wait for the main release

Oh, that’s good to know it is fixed with this commit!

I’m not in a rush, so will wait for the release.

Niri is updated to latest, and i have switch back to non git version, so far no issues with with cursor in screenshare window
