my PC: HP desktop pc with AMD Ryzen 5600g, using iGPU for video
also have a 2nd video card I added - Tesla P4, which has no video out, it is to be used for its CUDA only, I plan to use it for h265 encoding as well as AI use (run LLM, stable diffusion)
I installed the latest September iso with KDE Plasma 6, and its booting up fine.
Have a few questions. Please excuse me if these are simple, I just want to double check.
- both video cards seem to be working and detected just fine, it looks like an Nvidia driver was installed (since the card is listed in system info as well as I can use nvidia-smi). do I need to change anything or is this the best option - remember this is not for video out, I only will use the card for its processing, but I need the latest CUDA support for this card
- during install, I did not choose the ‘Nvidia closed source’ option, just the default, was this a mistake?
- which scheduler should I use and how to check the default one? should I use the scx-scheduler and which one? I will not do any gaming
- is there anything I need to setup for optimized AMD usage? e.g. I read in wiki about AMD pstate but not sure
- does CachyOS by default use precompiled packages for main repo and aur? I see ‘-bin’ versions of some of them when I search via paru. which one should we use?
- what are some general post install guides to follow? e.g. I saw this - GitHub - saltrocks/CachyOS-PerfHead: CachyOS Performance Checklist for True PerformanceHeads, not sure how much of that is needed
- I’m not sure why but it seems KDE partition manager is not included? I have a 2nd hdd which I want to use (its not formatted yet). should I do it manually or install KDE partition manager myself?
thanks
