Me and my friend like to play Hearts of Iron 4 , but 90% of the time we want to play together with Mods it says that we don’t have the same version of the game. (he’s on Windows and I’m on CachyOS) I’ve tried multiple Proton versions, but nothings working and on some of them the whole map except the Oceans turns Green. Can anybody help or does someone have the same issue?
Welcome to the forum!
The native Linux version of the game will have a different checksum than those on Windows, so for multiplayer you should stick with Proton.
For the graphical issues, try switching to DirectX 9 in the launcher. People are reporting that it helps.
Thanks, but I already tried multiple Proton versions and none of them worked. Direct X 9 fixed the graphical issues.
Are you absolutely sure you are both on the same versions of all the mods you are using? If they are from Steam workshop it might be an idea to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to them to force it.
It has been many years since I last played Paradox games, so I am not sure about this one, but if there is such a thing as a load order for the mods that you can set, then make sure they are in the same order for the both of you. If you are able to export/import playsets, then you can try that.
Apologies if none of this works.
Thanks again, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, I will try to look out for the mod order and stuff like that. You don’t need to apologize, you’ve done everything you can.
