Hi,
I recently got a new laptop and started to set it up similar to my old installation (but I didn’t copy all my config-file over). As I was using Fedora back then before, I installed Cachy with Gnome, immediately changed this to Hyprland and then later to Mango(wm/wc). I did it a bit similar this time, installing Gnome as a base and then Mango on top of it.
Now, when I start Gnome, everything runs fine (besides the fact that it is Gnome). But when I change it to Mango in GDM, it just brings up a gray screen and hangs, Funnily enough, I can start Mango inside Gnome from the termina, it brings up a Window directly on top (which has a smaller resolution - but shows the desktop, can switch between workspaces, start a terminal etc.).
Some things I tried (unsuccessfully):
- Starting from console - just hangs
- using different configurations like the default one from the maintainer and the cachy-mango-dms config
- here I also tried to change the resolution for my monitor using a monitorrule
- installing sddm - but this ends up similar to Mango
- installing Cachy with Mango inside a VM, which ran fine
- using the NVidia DKMS module instead of the built-in one
- maybe some more stuff I can’t remember anymore
I expect it to be some kind of resolution issue. My laptop has a 5070 mobile dGPU and an AMD 880M iGPU. The resolution should be 2560x1600 - but in games often get 3840x2400 as an option/default? All in all it looks like a graphics problem - like “prime-run %command%” is not working in steam to select the dGPU (it just hangs). In Ghost of Tsushima is just shows the AMD iGPU, trying the offload tips from the wiki also don’t work.
