Macbook Pro 2012 - Speakers don't seem to be working? Linux 6.19.6-1-cachyos Kernel

I have tried installing cachyos on my macbook but why is the speaker not working? I have tried downloading pipewire and alsa but it still doesn’t work. By the way, this laptop uses a Cirrus Logic CS4206B speaker chip. Please help.

I almost reported your post as spam because it’s right in between the annoying Indospam.

Until the error is found, just use a “normal” kernel, such as e.g. Linux, LTS or Zen.

sudo pacman -Syu linux-lts linux-lts-headers

Moderator here :waving_hand:

I have adjusted your title as best I can.

Previous title: Kenapa aku mencoba 6.19.6-1-cachyos di macbook pro 2012 speaker nya tidak aktif

Change: Macbook Pro 2012 - Speakers don't seem to be working? Linux 6.19.6-1-cachyos Kernel

I have made this change for better visibilty & also in “English” for the issue mentioned above, it looked very similar to the spam we have been recieving.

This card is actually for Microsoft.

For Linux, the corresponding driver probably needs to be installed.

You can find an AI-powered guide using Google, but I don’t want to link to it.

It could also be that there’s a faulty EFI boot process.

eh bang lu orang indonesia?

No, I’m German.

But we’ve been traveling to :heart:Indonesia  regularly for over 30 years, except during the pandemic.

Would like to comment that I have a similar problem with a Macbook Pro 2012 and using your answer worked for me.

I wonder what the bug was… almost discouraged me to use cachyos

Hello und welcome to the community!

I’m glad you found a solution here.

That’s not a bug, that’s future-proofing… It’s CachyOS.

That would have been very unfortunate.

For your MacBook (and all the others), CachyOS is a godsend. Perhaps the highlight of its entire existence! Everything has been thought of: it’s Arch and Linux is the kernel!

If you want to test a linux-cachyos kernel, the latest kernel, which is still under development, is a good choice.
