Log in loop or black screen after installation

I need some support I guess

so was installing cachyos about four times now, three times I ended up in a log in loop, the fourth time black screen where I expect log in screen.

since I cant enter the OS I dont have any logs to share. the only thing I can say is, there is a conflict between two Nvidia libraries …its … nvida-utility-4… and nvidia-utility-560… or so

the login loop: happened first time, when I installled Hyperland, which maybe expectable since its quite unstable. 2nd. tried two times with KDE/Plasma, same result.

black screen: was the result with i3.

what I did: I basically followed the installtion guidance, created three partition, boot, system and data, mounted in /boot, /, /home. At first I tried with zfs, except boot, later btrfs since its the default fs, but no difference.

I tried to install on a iMac late 2013 (14,2) , Intel-i7 4 cores 3.5 GHz (Haswell), 24G ram, GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M.

As I alway got an IP, the system is obvioulsy working, and from other post, the old GPU is most likely the root cause, so Im giving a last try with a headless installation, so at least I can access OS and install the right driver manualy…any advise is appreciated.

yesterday I gave another try, and could finally install cachyos. I tricked the login, with autol login without password. But hell, only to experience huge delay with mouse and keyboard. So, cpu driver wasnt right installed. so downloaded the driver from NVIDIA, but, since I wasnt able to stop server X, I couldnt install.

so next Idea, trying to ssh in, but doesnt work either (adjust config, disabled ufw, etc).
the next what I did was checking the kernel if the driver truely was installed, what I discoverd was that NVIDIA box was unchecked. So I check boxed and installed the updated kernel. eventually after almost 2 hours, the screen become black…
Is this expected and I should stay patient, or did the update failed?

anyone wanna comment, dont be shy

At the end its was simple!

The issue is nvidia-gpu in conjunction with KWin. They dont fit very well together, causing issues. In my case not recordinsing the gpu, the system information page said something about ll…whatever.

For all other running into the same issue change to X11 and everyting is.

I think this should be highlighted in the wiki, If one have nvida, expect issue with kwin and then switch to x11. that save ppl l lot of ther valued life time… if its there and I missed, than my fault.

anyway cheers
