It would be really great if the LTS kernel at least had the linux-surface patches. Or if there was a separate LTS kernel we could install for it. I know the patches existed before and were yanked because the upstream maintainers are too slow. I was thinking the LTS updates are a lot slower and probably updated enough to keep up, hopefully.
I have been slowly looking for a replacement for Windows to finally get our household off of it and CachyOS seems to be a good winner. CPU optimizations are great for performance/gaming, rolling release is great for development. It is just pretty frustrating as a new user to the OS to figure out it essentially does not work at all on one of my devices.
So, I either have to use two different distros (one for the Surface and one for the rest of our devices) or use the upstream kernel and hope it does not cause other issues. The normal kernel makes it so if the FN-lock is active, the keyboard does not work at all. So, the function keys are completely unusable except as media keys.
