I always had issue with sound on my lenovo legion pro 7 16arx8h and most solutions I fond were only suggesting to disable power saving for the snd_hda_intel module. Ever since I switched to CachyOS this did not work.
Today I discovered that wired headphones were extremely quiet even at 100% or 150%. This is not how it used to be. Headphones worked fine, just the built-in speakers used to be broken.
Eventually I discovered that this hidden “Line Out” device (or whatever it is) was being reset to 0% on boot, and when headphones were plugged in. Running amixer -c 1 set 'Line Out' 100% would fix the issue temporarily (until a reboot, or the headphones were reconnected). Setting it to 100% would also make the built-in speakers work.
I messed around with Wireplumber route overrides and ALSA profiles, but “Line Out” was still being reset to 0% when headphones were plugged in (well, sometimes, not always, it would reset eventually if unplugged enough times).
Can someone suggest a better fix? I don’t want to create some random hacky background services. It would be nice if I could figure out what is resetting this and why. I am running kernel 7.0.4-1-cachyos.
