Keymap in virtual console is US but localectl status reports DE (like it is set in vconsole.conf). This also affects plasma-login-manager.

sudo localectl set-x11-keymap de solved it.

Thought so too, but apparently plasma-login-manager messes with the keymap for VC too.

Just spent half-hour trouble shooting this before my morning coffee. :sleeping_face: For me localectl commands did not work. Finally found that in plasma settings - keyboard, layouts had been disabled, reenabled, added UK back in.
