KDE settings conflict with niri settings

I installed CachyOS with Niri. Because of cursor issues in gaming, I tried to install KDE Plasma, as well as Niri.

pacman gave the following error, aborting the installation when I said “N” to over-riding Niri settings KDE settings.

sudo pacman -S hyprland sddm xdg-desktop-portal-hyprland playerctl wofi dolphin kitty uwsm wl-clipboard polkit-kde-agent xorg-xwayland

This was the pacman command used:

sudo pacman -S cachyos-iridescent-kde cachyos-emerald-kde-theme-git cachyos-kde-settings cachyos-themes-sddm ark bluedevil breeze-gtk char-white dolphin egl-wayland gwenview konsole kate kdeconnect kde-gtk-config kdegraphics-thumbnailers ffmpegthumbs kinfocenter kscreen kwallet-pam kwalletmanager plasma-desktop libplasma plasma-nm plasma-pa plasma-workspace plasma-integration plasma-firewall plasma-browser-integration plasma-systemmonitor plasma-thunderbolt powerdevil
spectacle sddm sddm-kcm qt6-wayland xsettingsd xdg-desktop-portal xdg-desktop-portal-kde phonon-qt6-vlc

met same issue

Hi,

do not install CachyOS with two Desktop Enviroments! Look at the Note https://wiki.cachyos.org/installation/desktop_environments/

Greetings

Actually, Niri is not a full-fledged DE, just a Compositor / Window Manager for Wayland, and should normally not conflict with KDE. I recently installed it “into” a Live ISO environment and that showed no conflicts whatsoever. Of course that system had KDE installed in the first place and I added Niri on top, so that was the other way around.

Which one?

niri-settings is in conflict with kde-settings

both wanna modily /etc/skel, those settings are almost same and there is no reason to install them.

I’d suggest to rename *-settings to *-settings-skel since those settings are applied only for new users and does nothing to existent ones.

@Shuggi just install pkg niri and configure it according to videos on youtube (take favorite one) and read wiki on github.
