Hi,
Running up-to-date CachyOS Linux KDE Plasma with Wayland.
I am upgrading from nVidia RTX 3060 12GB to nVidia RTX 5070 16GB.
Running current proprietary nVidia Linux display drivers version 595.71.05.
What is the procedure to do the above upgrade?
Can I do the following:
Will the above work well?
Or do I need to do something else?

Should probably work like that since you’re on the latest drivers anyway.
Remember to unplug the PC too thats important.
More importantly, you are upgrading a 2 gen difference you will most likely be fine.
If you want to see driver support list just google your driver name+version and click the nvidia link.
if you are keeping both at least for a couple of days then if you run into an issue you can just swap back the 3060 and go from there.

It is only my own experience with Nvidia and new hardware.
My former Laptop, Gigabyte Aorus5 with Nvidia 1650Ti, worked well last year with CachyOS. End of last year, I bougth a Lenovo LOQ with a Nvidia 5070,
I just used the CachyOs from the Aorus5 on the Lenovo: it has just started as usual. CachyOS was on an external USB SSD.
To be honest: I took care to buy a hardware with almost same Intel specifications as the older laptop, to be able to use all my other distros I used before.
