[KDE Plasma] - How To Disable Open Folder After Extraction Of ZIP?

Hi,

Everything with CachyOS KDE Plasma is great.
Have one outstanding issue I need help with.
When I extract a compressed ZIP, after it always opens the folder?
How can I stop the above?

I can’t replicate this issue. I have tried opening a .zip with Ark and extracting then, and also immediate extraction through right-click menu. Are you not using the default file explorer in KDE (-> Dolphin)? Are you using a different extracting software than the default one in KDE (-> Ark)?

As a side-note, you’re talking about a function within the KDE Plasma desktop that might be better explained by the KDE community rather than the CachyOS community. https://discuss.kde.org

The KDE development team is the true source of any KDE function/application that you are using, CachyOS simply packages it with CPU-related optimizations.

Sorry…

When I decompress a zip file on the desktop, the Desktop folder opens pointing to the new folder.
Everywhere else is fine.
Any way to stop the above?

I can reproduce it now, but only for compressing a file on the desktop, as that opens the Desktop folder. “Extract here” does not open the Desktop folder for me. Have you tried extracting it this way?

That’s funny, I never extracted a file on my desktop, but @savantsavior is right: Dolphin automatically opens the extracted folder when you do this.

Maybe you should file this as a bug with KDE or Dolphin?

Hi,

I had the same issue. When you select “Extract to…” it opens a window, with an option “Open destination Folder after extraction”, which was checked for me. Uncheck that and it won’t open the folders afterwards, even when selecting “Extract here”. The option is unfortunately not present in the dolphin settings, so a bit hidden.
