I’m a Chinese person from China. I’m new to Cachy OS and really love it. I’ve heard that this Linux-based OS has special optimizations for games. Do you know how to run Windows games on Cachy OS? (I am a player of Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero.)![]()
downloading wine should help you with your issue!
you can also install wine through your terminal, which you can likely find the command for somewhere in the wiki.
if you have an EXE of your game in your files, right click it and go to open with and click wine, once youve downloaded wine.
alternatively, if youre looking to play through proton, which is what steam uses for their games, you could import your game to steam and force it to launch with proton.
Hi, also install Lutris and Steam, if you haven’t yet. With Lutris you can run non-steam games. Like from Ubisoft, GOG, Epic and more.
you can install most of what you need for linux gaming on cachyos with the terminal command
sudo pacman -S cachyos-gaming-meta cachyos-gaming-applications
I don’t mean to immediately deny your questions, we’re glad you’re here and interested like the rest of us… But, did you try asking Deepseek? I had Claude help me out with my Linux system administration, and it got me into Skyrim and ESO on my laptop through Cachy. Well the latter was temporary, something failed on it so I’ll have to check again… So I just suggest Deepseek for you since it’s more “local” to you? Maybe it will function for you in Cantonese or Mandarin? At the very least you’ll get immediate specific attempts to your answers.
Gemini has worked perfectly for me. I’m sure any of the decent models can solve a lot of issues.
For Genshin and Zenless, the “Twintail Launcher” is supposed to simplify a lot of the setup. Worked well for me!
If you’re okay with terminal, you can get it using “yay -S twintaillauncher” (although you may need to install yay first with “sudo pacman -S yay”. Or, if I’m right that newer releases of Cachy bundle Shelly, it’s probably easier to just search that.
The emulation layer made by Valve, Proton, also has some custom versions that help with certain games. One called “dwproton” is supposed to be better with some anime games, but see if the games work without them to begin with.
@kratos I am surprised that no one mentioned this yet, but the wiki has a whole page describing gaming setup: Gaming with CachyOS Guide | CachyOS
