Issues with USB & Audio interfaces - poor input quality

Hello

I have been trying to troubleshoot why I get shitty input audio, it is warbled, static and robotic. Output works fine.

My best guess is that it seems to be related to USB & the OS/drivers.

I have 2 interfaces I have been testing with, my mixer, Roland MX-1, and a wireless DJI Mic. Both operate through becoming a USB audio device.

The Roland MX-1 has never had good input audio on Cachyos, but it works fine on Windows, regardless of which USB port I put it on.

The DJI Mic I can get decent audio from, but it depends on which USB port I put into, this is what led me to believe it is USB driver/OS related.

The audio issue is the same on both devices - which points to a software issue.

There is also an issue of every time I restart or boot the computer, the audio will behave slightly differently, base volume levels shift and I have to adjust settings to accomodate - another point towards software/USB issues, I believe.

Right now I am primarily trying to get input to work so I can talk on Discord (and other meeting software)

Problems:
Input audio issues are the same regardless of device
Roland MX-1 never has good input audio
DJI Mic can get decent input depending on which
Audio can behave different every time OS starts up

Can someone help me troubleshoot why this is happening? I have been googling and trying a number of different things, but most issues I find are related to Realtek audio and getting zero input.

Did you take a look at the various profiles available for each device in the sound settings?

I had to play around a bit myself in order to get everything working. And also check your Discord settings for stuff like noise cancellation, etc. and see if anything changes if you modify these settings.

Yes, I use the Pro Audio with the Roland MX-1 as it has 18 channels, but as I said the issue is across devices. The profile has no effect on this, neither has discord settings.

For reference, this is the patchbay with the MX-1, but routing is not the issue as with the DJI Mic I can run it as a regular digital input and it works (depending on which USB slot the receiver is in)

I am having a similar issue with my Blue Yeti. Works perfectly in Windows but in CachyOS get a stutter sound as if there is a gate cutting at the same interval constantly and makes all audio recorded unusable. Looking at the audio mixer within OBS for instance, there is a constant flutter around -50DB that looks like room noise but equates to this interference.

Everything is updated to latest

I have a MSI Tomahawk x870e wifi with a AMD Asrock Challenger 9070XT video card. I have no audio when using 6.19 or 7.0 kernels and from what the AI chatbot told me, it has to do with the DMI blacklist that was introduced in 6.19. The audio controller on the MSI motherboard is seen as a usb Audio and the dmi blacklist blocks that. Unfortunately for me, this device being blacklisted also blocks all my audio devices, so I have no audio coming from my HDMI port on the 9070XT. I tried all the solutions the AI suggested and none of it worked. The only solution is to use the LTS 6.18x kernel since DMI Blacklist was not added until 6.19x. If you try the april iso releases of CachyOS or EndeavourOS since they use the 6.19x kernel for the live ISO, the audio does not work. If you have an older iso of CachyOS, like the one from January, that one has the 6.18 kernel and the audio works, in case any was interested in testing this without having to install the OS.
