Hello everyone, I wanted to know how well the Intel Ark B580 works with Cachyos. I’m just wondering if I should get an Intel graphics card for a Linux PC. I’m building a PC for work and gaming. I looked at benchmarks on the Intel Ark B580 and they disappointed me. I know Linux loves AMD, but I’d like to look for an alternative. Also, there’s little or no recent information about the Intel Ark on Linux.
I don’t have CachyOS on my desktop with my Arc B580 but I was able to spin it up in a VM and run some benchmarks on Cyberpunk 2077. I ran it several times with both rasterized and ray taced graphics and I also went back and did both again using Intel XeSS for both and once without. Let me know if there’s another game you were wondering about and if I have a copy. I didn’t have to add anything extra to it aside from the Gaming Packages thats in Cachy Hello that launches when it first boots up, that being said, I only know so much so I don’t know if there’s anything more I can do.
edit: added more context
Yes, I am running a B580 on CachyOS. Works great, no special setup or config required.
The only thing missing (compared to the Windows experience) is XeSS frame generation.
I agree that there are no recent Linux benchmarks, but the drivers have improved rapidly, so if you’re disappointed with performance from 2 years ago, it will have improved. See phoronix for a comparison between launch and +6 month bencharks:
