I just installed SonicDE on top of CachyOS Plasma, from Cinnamon. Now I cannot login to anymore, it just showed blank screen. Tried to change tty, but it’s not working. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
So It was Plasma then you added Cinnamon then you added Sonic to that?
What were the steps taken?
Installed CachyOS Plasma, then adding Cinnamon, from Cinnamon I added Sonic repo then install SonicDE. I think that the login manager not started with systemd, since SDDM was replaced with Sonic SDDM. Is there any way to enable Sonic SDDM?
Solved by editing grub to boot to console instead gui, and changing sddm to gdm.
Congrats on the solution. Please consider using the “Solution” checkbox when a solution is found, that makes it easier for others to see (and we don’t really need a (SOLVED) in the title
)
I took the liberty of doing that for you here.
To me, stacking three desktop environments on top of each other really sounds like a terrible idea. It may work for you, but you just bloated your system beyond recognition. Next time, better aim directly for the DE you want to use (and if the installer does not have that, you install without a DE and then install the DE from the console).
Just my 2 cents.
Thanks, I’ll remember that next time.
Thanks, for the reminder.
