same error
This seems to affect currently only people from India and having outdated arch mirrors.
Here is a workaround:
- Run
sudo pacman -Sy cachyos-calamares-qt6-next-grub
in the terminal within the ISO - Run
kate /etc/calamares/scripts/update-mirrorlist
and remove the line that hassudo cachyos-rate-mirrors
- Run
sudo cachyos-rate-mirrors
- Run
sudo micro /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
and at the very top of the Server = list, addServer = https://archlinux.cachyos.org/repo/$repo/os/$arch
- Start the installer by running
sudo -E dbus-launch calamares -D6
In case you dont want to use grub, replace “grub” with “systemd” or “refind”
When i installed without a DE it worked but when i selected KDE it gave me this error. I also removed selections for alacritty and some cachyos packages. I ran cachyos-rate-mirrors before running installer. So pacman present in the installed os is giving errors?? not the one in usb
to explain the current problem going on:
We are still using the archlinux mirrors for packages, which are not in our repository (mainyl -any and haskell packages).
The mirrors of arch and cachyos are getting ranked, before the installation starts. Currently many mirros from India being reported as “Fully Synced” but they are not since more then a week.
Peronsally, I suspect that one “main” mirror is currently not syncing currently from India, and all the others being outdated.
As you see above, we have setup now an own archlinux mirror, which has Caches around the comlpete world. We are doing now a one week testing phase, before integrating it to the installer.
Make an option for installing offlline like endeavour os does
No, we will not. This has been deprecated and will also stay like this.
We can not provide the customization and features what we want with an offline installation, so we do not provide it.
It was over the years barely maintained and just had issues.
I followed the steps as above and end up getting the error:
024-08-04 - 09:32:09 [1]: ERROR: Installation failed: "Failed to run pacstrap"
2024-08-04 - 09:32:09 [6]: .. - message: "Failed to run pacstrap"
2024-08-04 - 09:32:09 [6]: .. - details: Failed to run pacman
can anyone pleas help me on the issue. i was trying to install it on my machine and was facing this issues. to my limited knowledge i thought that may be there is some issue with the iso, until a stumble to this thread. its been 4-5 days i am trying and failing
We are currently working on a testing ISO for that.
how to solve the error, any help there…
until you guys are working hard on the iso
Here you can find the testing ISO:
https://build.cachyos.org/ISO/testing/
https://mirror.cachyos.org/ISO/testing/
Thanks a ton!!!
It worked with the testing iso.
Keep up the good work!!!
I ran into the same problem “Failed to run pacman” when trying to install. Came here, found the testing ISO which caused the install to fail sooner with a ton of more text to it other than “Failed to run pacman”.
I tried the first workaround as well, but running the install a second time will only give me the option to manually partition my drive with no option to “continue”. Had to install another OS again, then try this one again… did that 5 times and had it fail every time.
Do you have a log?
The testing ISO should really fix that, since its an way more updated mirror.
I’m getting the same error. I tried using the testing branch, no luck. I tried your work around with updating the mirrors, but didn’t help either. Here is my logs, hopefully you can help @ptr1337
There is a issue currently that prevents installations (wrong deps for gcc). Doesnt matter what ISO you use.
Is fixed now.
