Looking for suggestions here.
How do I subtly bog down a Windows PC to make it so uncomfortably heavy that my wife would consider switching Linux instead of staying on Windows?
The trick is to let Microsoft sabotage the OS on their own.
Also wild thing to think
In the case of the system Iāve been fighting with forvwork the last couple of days? āUse Itā.
I know, but I want to accelerate the process
If for some user the Linux ecosystem isnāt attractive enough on its own in comparison to Windows, then a rational user wouldnāt want to switch. If sabotage is necessary to get one to switch, then it simply isnāt an attractive-enough ecosystem. If anything, it would backfire and make users wary of it.
Dude, itās just an OS. Why would you even consider sabotaging your wifeās usage of a device for your personal desire to run Linux on it?
sexism out of this forum? its his wife relax i dont do pronouns.
Its his wife lol.
For nowā¦.
Non-consensual acts tend to harm relationshipsā¦
Why in Gods name would you do that to your own wife,i mean if she wants to use windows thats in my opinion up to her,to force her to Linux could back fire
Great idea.
So my suggestions/ideas:
- Tell your wife that you donāt know why the f#$K she married you in the first place or thought you might be someone she could trust.
Thatās about it. I know that there are many countries and cultures with different attitudes towards women, treating them as inferiour animals⦠but I think a public forum isnāt the place to air such disgusting attitudes.
You donāt own her. Perhaps we should contact your wife and tell her she needs to wipe your hardware with a nice fresh install of Windows 11.
While perhaps inappropriate for the OP to deliberately sabotage his wifeās laptop, itās also quite inappropriate for you to criticize in such a manner.
I hear you - but I stand by what I said. Sabotaging a spouseās device isnāt a technical question. Itās a relationship red flagā¦
My tone is harsh because such a request deserves pushback, not help.
If anything, such a request is toxic, and a breach of the forum rules and spirit.
Yes, this isnāt a relationship help forum nor a general morality forum. You should probably have just scrolled past (my opinion on the matter)ā¦since it IS a technical support forum.
Perhaps the post should have simply been delisted, but neither of us possess the power to do that.
OH, but we do - if you think requesting delisting is a priority, then you should flag it.
So going with the idea that this is āOfftopicā and more a social area than a technical support area, I think still that the OP shoul dhear that what theyāre asking for isnāt clever, itās manipulative.
Reporting or de-listing would be silent and I think speaking up is a better choice.
The attitudes expressed here should reflect the atttitudes of CachyOS, so I stand by that.
Perhaps the thread should, instead, be closed.
It is flagged for moderators - put it in the hands of the goDs ![]()
Could we please leave sexism out of this forum? Thanks. This is also true for the OP in my opinion. I find the whole thread very disturbing and inappropriate in every way.
AS the wife of someone, and a new user of CachyOS on a laptop, but running Linux for decades (Gentoo since 2004 on the workstation), we browse the forums to get a feel for CachyOS post-install.
This kind of toxic crap is prevalent in FOSS and male dominated spaces, which we would suggest is why an awful lot of women want to stay the hell away from Linux.
A thread on hacking someoneās machine remotely would be frowned upon. But somehow, because itās his wifeās itās OK.
Seriously, take a long hard look in the mirror if you think this is OK.
