You haven’t posted a single performance evaluation of your situation. In many ways you’re not really qualified to say what is and isn’t proper.
Why would anyone waste their time handholding through a task that’s generally not useful (especially with upcoming zfs updates)? You’re not entitled to have the world serve you bespoke solutions to your imagined problems.
It’s insane to expect people to lay out step by step, tested tutorials for things that that they don’t have and need or desire to do themselves - or even advise against without a higher level of knowledge.
Sometimes the $USER is the problem though.
