How Do I Make Grub Menu List Kernel Version #

I want to list the OS name and kernel version number, something like:

CachyOS Linux 7.1.3-1-cachyos
CachyOS Linux 7.1.3-1-cachyos-eevdf

I don’t want to just force it with static naming in /etc/default/grub. I want it to automatically detect and list new kernels the same way.

I installed CachyOS four days ago and love it so far. I’ve only had minor issues and this is only an issue because I’m used to knowing the version number that I’m booted to. I’ll get over to the Intro section soon.

I already dug into /etc/grub.d/10_linux, but I don’t want to do get it wrong. I’ve been running Linux for over 20 years so I should understand the solution.

Thank you!

Hello and welcome,

Are they not printed under the ‘advanced’ selection submenu (and is that not what you want)?
