I have separate desktops for my first and second monitors. I have my tv set to primary display so steam games will always open on the tv. When I disable the tv because I’m messing around, the desktop on the tv moves to my other monitor. If I make my monitor the primary, the desktops switch. I don’t want that to happen. I like the desktop on my monitor the way it is. Is there a way to prevent this?
Had a look at settings and review this with some AI tools, and it seems that based on how the desktops work and monitors, there’s no clear way to manage this process, given how you want it to behave.
You’re effectively removing the ‘target’ for one of the desktops, therefore, what do you expect the system to do when this happens. I’d thought that you should disable a desktop when you don’t have the tv monitor, but that changes the behaviour. I don’t think there is a sensible fix for what you’re experiencing.
Thanks for looking into it. I would think removing the target for one monitor wouldn’t make it overtake the desktop on the other monitor and effectively replace it with the main one. So the secondary desktop just disappears? So, from this, I’m assuming that the primary display supersedes all other desktops and displays then. When the primary monitor is disconnected or turned off, that desktop just replaces the other one. I wouldn’t even bother making my tv the primary display if there were a way to make all games open on the monitor of my choosing, but they all default to the primary display. Well, I’ll mess around and see if I can find something that works for me. Thanks for the reply.
