Hi, I’m Niko.
Currently I’m studying IT security and starting next year as a cloud security engineer.
I’ve been using Linux in general for a few years now, starting with the good old classic “Linux Mint”.
There were a lot of problems with my 4k screens, so I wanted to try out Wayland with better fractional scaling support, which was very buggy. ![]()
KDE seemed to be a good alternative to Cinnamon, so I moved to “KDE neon” for some time, before moving on to Fedora, which is a much more mature distro than “KDE neon”, if not developing KDE apps.
At some point I suddenly had problems with video decoding being VERY slow (streaming videos from our homeserver), so I wanted to find a faster alternative, which in my case was Cachy OS. ![]()
Since then, I am very happy with Cachy OS, so far the smoothest Linux experience, the most stable Linux (funny enough as an Arch derivate) and gaming performance seems to be good as well.
Mostly I’m developing (open source) software and maintaining my home network. ![]()
Here are my tips and tricks for my Cachy setup, maybe you can find something useful for your setup there:
If you are interested, I’m running a Matrix chat room for Cachy OS, feel free to join us there:
Thanks to the Cachy team and the community!
