I’ve been testing Cachyos for about a day or two now. I searched many sites and discovered this place for answers to a few questions I couldn’t find the answers to.
I use Elgato equipment.
I use StreamLabs instead of OBS.
I use Rode equipment.
The programs I use for editing are:
CapCut
Insta360 Studio
DJI Studio
Camtaista
I couldn’t find a way to run these programs. (Or maybe I just couldn’t figure it out.) If you can help me with this, I too want to finally get rid of this Windows nonsense.
Hello and welcome to CachyOS. Do you know alternativeto.net? They have very good recomendations and you can filter to see Linux apps only.
Now, I don’t know any of the progs you were talking about, but alternativeto says the alternative to CapCut would be either ShotCut or Kdenlive. I use ShotCut and it’s good enough for my need, while I heard many voices saying Kdenline totally rocks, so you might give them both a try.
And hopefully you know how to install software on an Arch based distro? Because you do that with pacman, not like you would on Windows (like, downloading some *.exe and then running that to install the actual software), eg. to install shotcut you open a terminal (like konsole when you are on KDE) and type
sudo pacman -S shotcut
Please be aware what sudo means and that you should only use that when it is really necessary! And never to start a GUI prog.
Yes, I know I need to install them using commands, but I absolutely need these programs. I will check out all the alternative sites you provided. I just want to get rid of this Windows.
If you absolutely need exactly those programs and they do not support linux then you will likely be out of luck I am afraid.
There may be some kind of possibility to use something through wine or similar but that is unlikely to magically work perfectly on all of your examples. You could give it an attempt though.
But if you are willing to try/use alternatives then there very well could be something for you.
Like in the case of video editing I like kdenlive.
The hardest thing in the world is starting everything over from scratch. I enjoy accomplishing difficult tasks. I am open to learning; I just struggle to find the right resources. I believe this is the place where I can access that information.
I need to use the Insta360 software because I shoot my vlog and motovlog footage with the Insta360 X5. I have just contacted Insta360 and asked them to develop the software for Linux-based systems. I hope they start working on it soon.
This will probably not really get you away from Winslop. The way I see it, you have four options:
Find an alternative Linux software
Try to run the Windows software through Wine or Proton (bit of a learning curve involved)
Install Winslop in a Virtual Machine (but don’t except everything to work)
Dual-boot Winslop and Cachy (worst alternative in my opinion, but best support for Winslop software)
I’m afraid you will have to make some sacrifices when you want to get away from Micro$oft. For me, it was saying farewell to the app that controls my guitar amp, because I just could not get it to work.
Some truth in that, but you may see it as a chance to break old habits. I am in the Cachy game since a bit over one year now and I miss… not much. I use Winslop on my office laptop and I hate it by now.
I just struggle to find the right resources. I believe this is the place where I can access that information.
Yup, you’ve come to the right place. But maybe you should create a new topic in “General” saying “Looking for alternatives to my Windows software”, that might attract the right people.

Good luck with that. I tried the same with BOSS because of Boss Tone Studio and they told me “Won’t do, sorry”.
