I newly installed and was working great. I had used sudo command before and it worked like it should. Yesterday I went to install some network tools or modify .conf and I got an error message " ID: cannot find user name for user ID 1000"
I’m not wanting to do a reinstall if possible.
Well that’s odd, unless you changed your uid or something silly like that.
No I didn’t change anything. I’m an intermediate user , been off and on with Linux since early 90s. After I did a reboot , it boots and then i just get a blinking -
Just for grins, try ‘run0’ instead of sudo and see if it balks too.
Edit: because of your edit, yeah you sound like a failing hardware component…cpu/memory/motherboard/drive.
Might be too late for that now that it’s just blinking -
Which bootloader do you use when launching the installer ?
The one I want to keep, usually systemdboot.
Thanks for your time , appreciate it
have you checked /etc/group
? with systemd
are new groups are coming, and old groups becomes useless
