GPU Hard Crashes Very Often

Hello,
I recently installed cachyos and it was smooth sailing until just today when I did an update to 6.13.6, since then my screen completely freezes and I’d have to do a hard reset. This freezing happens literally every few minutes doesn’t matter what I’m doing so I don’t know how to recreate it. I’m on kde with a nvidia 3070 laptop gpu.
Kindly assist.

Edit:
I was using proprietary drivers before and I switched to open cause I thought it might solve it but it’s the same for both. I also switched to lts kernel and nothing changed.

This seems to be known issue with the gsp firmware. We have recently enabled this again, after nvidia contacted us and suggested to have this as default enabled.

You can find a fix here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Vulkan#GSP_firmware

So far the fix seems to have only delayed the crashing. Previously it would freeze every 2 minutes or something, it was that bad. Now it’s crashing every few hours.

yeah, I was having the same (see Regular full desktop crashes (nvidia, kernel, scheduler?)) in the end using the closed drivers is what save me., So sudo pacman -S linux-cachyos-nvidia. and wait till they get this fixed.

I did that like first thing. I was on proprietary when it started around 3 days ago, then I switched to open and it got worse, now I’m back to proprietary. Honestly this is the most frustrating ‘bug’ I have encountered in a very long time.

I’ll mark as solved as it seems a patch is needed for a full fix.
