Controller:
firmware: 2.1.0, wired, Xinput mode
PC:
14900KS, 7900 XTX, ASUS Z790 Apex Encore, kernel 7.0.0
Driver in use:
xpad
Issue:
Getting extreme input lag when using a polling rate of 8k or 4k (range of 2 to 10 seconds) across all games. Switching to a 1k polling rate removes all input lag. On Windows the 8k/4k polling rate has no input lag.
Things I’ve tried:
tested on all usb ports
pinned controller’s irq to only the P-cores
disabled usb autosuspend
disabled my CPU’s Cstates
enable/disable Steam input
launch a game from Heroic instead of Steam
launch game with/without the proton flags: SDL_JOYSTICK_HIDAPI=0 PROTON_PREFER_SDL=1 PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
Thoughts:
My PC has more than enough power to handle a 8K polling rate. I also use an OP1 8K mouse & have no issues with it. And the fact that the controller with a 8k polling rate works completely fine on Windows means it’s not the hardware.
Is there something I’m missing?
Is there another driver I could try?
Or is using a controller with a 8k/4k polling rate a lost cause on Linux?
