Hello, this is my first time posting on this forum and need some assistance. Fairly new to Linux so bare with me, I will try to include all the info and sorry if I miss something.
I haven’t had any issues with CachyOS in the past 3 or so months I’ve been dailying it, however with the release of the NVIDIA 610 drivers (which came with the new kernel, correct?) my Forza Horizon 6 launches fine and when I select play, i get into the game but all I get is the HUD and sound, no graphical display. I attempted to take a screenshot, but it seems like steam overlay is not operational now as well?
With my updates, I tend to clear the cache and orphan packages. I attempted to use a snapshot to rollback but since the old kernel was deleted it booted into emergency mode and I’ve attempted multiple things to downgrade the drivers to 595 but without success. Am I just screwed on playing Forza until a new driver/kernel update?
Info:
OS: CachyOS x86_64
Kernel: Linux 7.0.11-1-cachyos
DE: KDE Plasma 6.6.5
CPU: Intel(R) Core™ Ultra 9 285 (24) @ 6.50 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 [Discrete]
NVIDIA-SMI 610.43.02
Proton: Cachyos-11.0-20260601 SLR
game launch commands: WINE_AUDIO_BACKGROUND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=descriptor_heap,enable_experimental_features %command%
Things I’ve attempted to remedy issue:
-Use BTRFS snapshot to rollback(old kernel deleted after update resulting in booting in emergency mode)
-Tested with Latest kernel, LTS kernel, and RC kernel. All have the same result.
-Force downgrade nvidia drivers (doesn’t properly detect card)
-Use different Proton versions
-Verify game file integrity
-Reinstall game
-Launching game without commands which results in crash after a few seconds.
Thank you in advance.
